About the Event
CLASSICS IN JAZZ, the Fusion-Ensemble led by Cape Town composer, arranger and pianist Adolf Thelen, takes the audience on to a thrilling musical journey of improvised music based on compositions by JS Bach, J Rodrigo,
O Peterson and GF Handel, among others. The famous "Badinerie in B-minor” and “Prelude No.1” are featured, as well as the "Toccata and Fugue in d-minor" and the "Italian Concerto” by JS Bach. “Classical" chord progression and articulation mix with swing and funky riffs. May it be a fugue, aria, prelude or an
intricate counterpoint, the musicians deal with them in their unique fusion style.
Adolf Thelen (p), Mike Rossi (sax), Dave Ridway (b) and Lilavan Gangen Goosen (dr) cut the compositions into pieces and ... get them together again.
